FACILITIES CARE DIRECTOR – 18 Month Contract

The Operations Department is a service-oriented area within our organization. We are currently in need of a dynamic, proactive and qualified individual to serve as a Facilities Care Director, overseeing our current facility in St. Catharines, and our new facility in NOTL. (opening 2019).

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Staff Management: Overseeing two Facility Care personnel who are responsible for general care and cleanliness of the building. Proven ability to delegate work and manage weekly routine.
  • Perform Routine and Regular Maintenance: Work with and develop maintenance schedules, ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of Heating/Cooling, Elevator, Fire Safety, Kitchen exhaust systems and Vehicle Maintenance. Proven ability to complete a wide variety of minor repairs (Plumbing, Electrical, Painting, Drywall, Janitorial, etc.).
  • Liaise with Contractors: Proven ability to manage relationships with key service contractors, ensure the quality of work and ability to work within budget. Contractors range from various mechanical trades, landscaping, snow removal, electrical, elevator, janitorial and fire safety.
  • Maintenance Schedules: Proactively identify issues and develop maintenance schedules.
  • Automation: Ability to work with automation systems to manage security, photometrics, heating/cooling.
  • Joint Health & Safety: Member of Joint Health and Safety team
  • Volunteer Management: Ability to manage and recruit volunteers
  • Partnering:
    • Work with all Ministry Departments
    • Work with volunteers/sub-contractors
    • Approach day to day work activities with a flexible and positive attitude
    • Performs other duties as assigned by your manager.

  • Experience: At least 5-10 years facility care experience

  • Ability to drive a bus an asset, but not required
  • Working knowledge of Mac, Microsoft Word and Excel

KITCHEN COORDINATOR –  Part Time: 10hours/week

Our Operations Department is currently in need of a charismatic, motivated and qualified individual to lead people into a life that matters by serving as a Kitchen Coordinator.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Oversee Daily Activities:

  • Organize work flow and decide which tasks need to be done daily, weekly and monthly
  • Plan menus
  • Manage stock and helping to ensure that stations stay stocked during event
  • Assign various jobs to kitchen staff
  • Order food and supplies from vendors as required
  • Keep a detailed inventory of supplies
  • Be available for church ministry events requiring food such as: volunteer breakfast
  • Recruit, train and educate volunteers
  • Oversee private functions requiring food or kitchen services i.e. showers, parties etc.
  • Manage the opening and closing of the kitchen
  • Coordinate the preparation, cooking and presentation of food quickly and efficiently
  • Assist in keeping the kitchen always clean, hygienic and tidy
  • Work safely around kitchen equipment and address any maintenance issues

Administrative Activities:

  • Reconcile monthly purchases related to food services
  • Follow event sheets and calendar for event planning and staffing
  • Establish a team of volunteers to assist with daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal duties
  • For health and safety purposes, kitchen staff and approved volunteers must be present for the duration of the kitchen activity
  • Follow Central policies and procedures
  • Attend staff and department meetings

WHO YOU ARE:

  • A person who has Grade 12 education OSSD & related diploma and/or valid trade qualifications
  • A person who has 5 years’ experience in varied kitchen positions food preparation & handling
  • 3 years’ supervisory experience
  • A person knowledgeable in all regulations such as safe food handling codes, fire and health department requirements for commercial kitchens, etc
  • A person with Food Handling certificate
  • A person who is highly administrative
  • A person with a valid driver’s license, clear driving record (drivers abstract required) and access to a vehicle
  • A person who is financial responsible – who can manage the kitchen budget and be profitable
  • A person who has a working knowledge of Mac, Microsoft Word, Excel and electronic messaging
  • A person willing to learn and navigate our database, Church Community Builder (CCB)
  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative easily
  • A person who demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, dependable and has a strong work ethic

SUMMER STUDENT INTERN

CentralKids and Central Youth Movement are growing ministries within our organization. We are currently in need of dynamic and passionate individuals to work with our children and youth departments; organizing, interacting and participating in summer camp activities/events.

As a Summer Student Intern, you will be a part of providing a quality, Christian-based program that will help shape and impact children and youth.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Assist and attend one of our ministries (CentralKids, Warehouse or Community Crew)
  • Attend Day Camp, July 16-20, 2018
  • Assist with camp theme and decorations
  • Participate in the planning committee as needed
  • Plan a fun theme night
  • Plan a grade 8 special night
  • Attend weekly events
  • Connect with children and families
  • Assist in organizing Summer Camp events and activities
  • Attend Summer Camp, August 12-17, 2018
  • Assist with the organization, development and implementation of all activities/elements

WHO YOU ARE:

  • A person who is passionate about serving children and students
  • Between the ages of 15-30 years
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written
  • Able to connect with staff, volunteers, parents, youth and kids
  • Previous experience working with kids and youth in a camp/event setting
  • Ability to speak in front of large and small groups of people
  • Detail oriented, particularly in event planning
  • Ability to help with set designs and transportation
  • Able to perform basic administration of events and activities
  • Ability to assist with curriculum development
